The Polish Place brings to you this event for a chance to sample traditional Polish cuisine matched with the local Queensland wines from Witches falls Winery. In addition to our extensive menus, Ania has selected some light and full meal options for lunches for the duration of the Tastes of the Gold Coast festival. Each of the meals will be served with a glass of selected Witches Falls wines to match the flavours and texture of the dish. Prices from $16.50

 

 

Pierogi - meat & herb dumplings with fried bacon and onion served with 2006 Witches falls Granite Belt Chardonnay

The fruit for this wine was handpicked from Henty Estate vineyard in late February/early March 2006. The nose displays fresh melon and nectarine aromas against a background of toasty oak. The palate is a rich blend of nectarine and mandarin flavours which combine with the oak and creamy malolactic characteristics. 30% of this wine was barrel fermented in new French oak with 20% put through malolactic fermentation in barrel.

Vegetarian Pierogi filled with porcini mushrooms & sauerkraut, topped with a porcini mushroom and creamy onion sauce matched with 2008 Granite Belt co-inoculated Verdelho.

 

Based on Australian Wine Research Institute research our 2008 Verdelho was co-inoculated with more than one strain of yeast with wonderful results.  Vibrant aromas of passionfruit and paw-paw meld seamlessly with tropical fruits on the palate.  Firm acidity delivers a crisp clean finish.

Gołąbek/Cabbage Rolls - Pork meat with rice rolled in cabbage leaves, served with a creamy tomato sauce, with assorted vegetables and matched with 2004 Clare Valley Riesling

The Clare Valley is one of mainland Australia's coolest wine-growing regions.Situated in a high altitude pocket, the cold winters and long hot days during the ripening period ensures the resultant wines are rich yet austure, delicate yet robust.  Fresh aromas of lime, citrus and apple seed gradually develop into layers of toast and honey.

Golonka/Pork Hock - Large Pork Hock on the bone,cooked with herbs and then baked with our ‘Zywiec’ beer, served with a creamy horseradish sauce, hot potatoes and sauerkrautwith 2006 Witches falls Granite Belt Chardonnay

Kaczka z Jablkami/Duck (for 2) - Traditional Polish Duck confit of whole free range duck stuffed with apples and marjoram, baked and served with red cabbage, apples, sour cherries & Polish gnocchi matched with 2006 Granite Belt cabernet sauvignon

Juicy blackcurrant and fine tannins combine to produce a plump, generous palate.  Balanced, integrated oak provides structure, length and persistence. Shows vibrant dark berry aromas on the nose.

Gicz Cielêca/Veal Shank - Braised tender Veal Shank, served with a Seeded Mustard sauce, red cabbage & mashed potato or buckwheat matched with the 2005 Granite Belt Shiraz.

2005 was a magnificent vintage in the Granite Belt  with near perfect conditions producing intensely flavoured fruit.  Our 2005 < >Shiraz shows inky blackcurrant and cinnamon aromas on the nose.  Dark plum and blackpepper combine with fine tannins and integrated oak to deliver a soft, plump generous plate with a kick.

Jablka w Cieœcie/Apple pancakes - Crispy Apple Pancakes dusted with icing sugar and served with ice cream or cream matched with 2009 Granite Belt Moscato.  

Made from frontignac grapes often described as the ultimate breakfast wine it is also fantastic as an aperitif or dessert wine. The incredible fruitness,lightness and sweetness really make this a wine to be enjoyed any time.
