The Polish Place was established in 1983 by Phil & Ania Sowter, as the Polish Gallerie and Coffee Shop, a small Polish cafe in a garden setting. It became famous for its traditional Polish cuisine and unique display of Polish folk art from different regions of Poland.  In 1990 five European style chalets were added, each with their own private balcony, wood fireplace, spa bath, loft bedroom, full kitchen and laundry.

In 1994 when the Restaurant and bar were extended, the Polish Gallerie and Coffee Shop was renamed The Polish Place (as it had become known) to encompass the Restaurant & Bar, Mountain Chalets and Gallery under one name.

Visitors come from around the world to enjoy the superb mountain views, friendly Polish hospitality with Australian flair, and authentic Polish flavours.
